Reinier Meyjes

Director and Project Manager

Reinier is a Fenix founding director. He is responsible for the company’s projects and operations in northern Mozambique.

From the very beginning, Reinier adopted a ‘win-win’ approach to our relationships with our stakeholders. His personal ethics have helped shape Fenix into a company committed to sharing the benefits of our growth with our team and local communities.

Like Craig, Reinier is a born entrepreneur. In 1996 he left South Africa to start a grassroots tourism project in Mozambique.

In 2007 he completed his MBA through the University of South Africa. He graduated from the University of Pretoria with a bachelor of commerce degree in 1996.

CRAIG JONES

Director and Project Manager

Craig is one of our founding directors. He manages head office and is responsible for our projects in southern Mozambique.

Over the past sixteen years Craig has worked hard to build Fenix into the successful and focused operation it is today. He is a natural entrepreneur and a committed business owner who is passionate about forward-thinking and ethical business practice.

Before moving to Mozambique Craig worked in IT and accounting in London and Harare.

He graduated from the University of Natal in 1989 with a degree in commerce.

Winfred Hebete

Financial Manager

Winfred became our financial manager in 2014 after five years with Fenix. He manages a large team spread out across our operation from his base at head office.

Since his appointment, Winfred has built up a strong team and fostered a culture of detailed forward planning in his department. This is key in a department that manages the finances of both Fenix and our procurement company Griffin.

Winfred’s level-headed management style helps navigate his team through the busiest of periods. Led by his example, Winfred’s team always goes the extra mile without being asked.
Before joining Fenix, Winfred was an administration manager as Meikles Africa in Zimbabwe

Winfred holds qualifications in accounting, business studies, administration, and personnel management. He is taking an MBA through the Irish University Business School and studying for his ACCA qualification.

KURAUONE NGIRANDE

Senior Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager

Kura is the senior quantity surveyor at Fenix and a project manager. He joined Fenix in 2010 after working for construction companies and consultancies in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.

His humble nature and quiet manner belies a strong and determined character who is widely respected for his diligent and committed approach to his work. His eye for detail and his ability to plan thoroughly are both valuable skills to have in the field of project management.

Kura holds a degree in quantity surveying from the UK College of Estate Management and a diploma in quantity surveying from the Harare Polytechnic in Zimbabwe. He is studying for entry into the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Associateship.

LOUISE JONES

Director at Fenix Business Manager at Griffin Procurement Services

Louise is the business manager of Griffin Procurement Services. Griffin is the procurement and logistics company owned by Fenix that services our projects in southern Africa. Louise is also a director at Fenix.

Griffin is located in Nelspruit, South Africa. Louise travels frequently between Nelspruit and Maputo to fulfill her roles in both companies.

Louise joined Fenix in 2007 as the general manager. She used her skills in business management to develop the work paths and processes that have helped shape our company into an efficient and effective operation. She left her post in 2012 to establish Griffin in South Africa.

Louise spent 6 years in Zimbabwe working in the demanding incentive travel industry. She has also worked in London.

She graduated from the University of Natal in 1988 with a degree in marketing and psychology.

Romão Vilanculos

Human Resources Manager

Romão has been with Fenix since 2005. He worked through various positions in the company before his talent for managing people made him a natural choice for human resources manager.

Romão is a strong negotiator with outstanding people skills. He puts these abilities to work helping us to build positive relationships with key stakeholders like local communities and government departments.

He is a passionate football fan and the manager of our own football team, Fenix Real.

Before joining Fenix, Romão served in the administrative departments of several companies in South Africa and Mozambique. In the late 1980’s he spent four years in East Germany working as an apprentice in the textile industry.

JANUARIO MANHAMANHA

Site Manager

Januario earned his senior management stripes working as the site manager on some of our most challenging and technically difficult projects.

Since joining Fenix in 2007, Januario has managed sites across Mozambique in parts of the Inhambane, Maputo and Cabo Delgado provinces.

Most of our projects are located in remote areas that are not easy to access or to operate in. On every site he takes charge of, Januario quickly adapts to the tough local conditions. He uses his expertise and experience to meet the technical and logistical challenges of remote projects head on.

Before joining Fenix Januario worked for a number of consulting engineering firms in Mozambique.

He graduated from the University of Eduardo Mondlane with a diploma in construction engineering.
