Investing in Communities

FENIX hires local workers first on new project sites. We both employ locally and also transfer skills to local people by apprenticing unskilled workers to FENIX artisans.

Skills transfer sustains the benefits to the local population once a project ends. Former FENIX workers who learn trades during their time with FENIX leave with much better job prospects.
We are an equal opportunity employer. Generally, our sites employ a 40/60 mix of women and men.
We encourage and help local businesses and cooperatives to supply us with materials and services such as:

Catering services
Transport services (land and sea)
Block-and-brick manufacture
The manufacture of clay tiles
Thatching and
The general supply of local materials.

Our business gives local communities a welcome financial boost
